| WHY A JUNIOR GOLF MAGAZINE? |
The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex is one of the top 10 media markets (radio,
television, and print) and one of the top 10 Junior Golf markets in the
United States yet media coverage of High School and Competitive Junior Golf in North Texas is virtually non-existent. Compared to the media coverage
provided to other High School sports, such as Football, Basketball, Soccer,
Volleyball, Baseball, and Softball, which get regular attention in both
major newspapers, The Dallas Morning News and The Fort Worth Star-Telegram and on local network and cable television, HS and Competitive Junior Golf is
literally left out the the cold. The rare occasion golf is mentioned is only
when a major event takes place in the Metroplex like High School playoffs
(District, or if an area team goes to Regionals or State) or when a National
event is played here locally, such the AJGA or USGA. There are no High
School rankings in the local newspapers unlike most other High School
sports. Over the years several of the top College and Professional golfers
have grown up in DFW and played junior golf and high school golf locally.
From a High School and Competitive Junior Golf perspective, the sport goes
virtually unnoticed.

He has created new profitable divisions for Fortune 500 companies and had an outstanding career in sales and sales management. As a one-man show, selling advertising, writing editorial, covering events, laying out the magazine, and distributing it once it was printed, he still managed to fill a void left by local media and find the time to expand into South Texas, Central Texas, and Central Florida. In 2003 he co-founded the Young Guns Junior Golf Tour and over a two-year period conducted over 40 profitable, competitive 36-hole Junior Golf events at resorts across Texas and Louisiana. In July of 2005, he sold his interest in the YGJGT and NTJG to a partner to pursue a full-time speaking and consulting business. His oldest son Caleb is a sophomore at R.L. Paschal HS in Fort Worth and plays varsity golf for the reigning State 5A Champions. |
